Just a short stint at the British Red Cross who at the time needed some extra capacity in their selections team.

Asked to step in as Data Services Manager after the sudden departure of a long serving predecessor. Documented the role and those of the team and recruited my replacement. Line managed a team of data analysts, completed much of the data work itself, delivered data for all RBL’s fundraising needs and ensured that response data was correctly stored. A temporary role at the British Legion to assist in clearing a backlog of fundraising selections. The team had been without a selections analyst for two months, resulting in many campaigns needing immediate attention.Within a few weeks, most of the backlog was resolved, and the data selection process was streamlined. A comprehensive data brief was created for campaign managers, enhancing communication and saving time for the entire team. Additionally, a system was established for recording and documenting data selections, ensuring accurate timing estimates and making the workload visible to justify staffing requirements.

A member of Macmillan’s Data Delivery team, responsible for segmenting and selecting data for fundraisers to ensure maximum return on investment for each campaign. The data was then cleaned and delivered to external agencies.This role required excellent attention to detail and a broad knowledge of fundraising to ensure that the data was used in the most effective way possible to raise money to support people living with cancer.- Completed approximately half of all data selection for Macmillan- Worked with Direct Marketing department to maximise ROI- Working with Legacy and High Value donor teams to deliver selection and insights- Ensured that donor communication preferences were followed

A member of a team that provided the link between the NSPCC’s supporter database and the Individual Giving Department. Tasked with leveraging an understanding of the database and data segmentation, responsible for creating selections for direct marketers. At the end of each direct marketing campaign, analyses were conducted to highlight contact rates, response rates, and ROI.During this time, the following achievements were made:- Selected large mailing, telephone, and email campaigns, sometimes in excess of 500,000 records.- Produced end-of-campaign analyses to inform future targeting during data selection.- Created a new system to assign seeds to data outputs with greater transparency and flexibility.- Completed an analysis of the entire organisation's donor recruitment

A member of a small team responsible for maintaining a national database containing an up-to-date version of the electoral register for the Conservative Party. During busy election periods, involved in reporting data errors, liaising with local authorities to acquire accurate electoral information, mentoring junior team members, and communicating changes to local party offices. As the General Election approached, the role quickly evolved into a high-stress troubleshooting position. Working long hours, the team had to deliver functionality to local offices as needed.During this time, several notable successes were achieved:- Migrated over 150 legacy databases (approximately 70,000 records each) into the new national database.-Introduced administrative improvements that halved the time required to migrate the database to a new electoral register.-Helped set up and run a call centre during the 2011 election.-Trained numerous activists through phone calls, presentations, and conferences to effectively use the database.-Participated in several large data cleaning projects to standardise data across a 45 million record database.
