About Miles Reschke
Ever since I was young, I have been passionate about sustainability, and how humanity can work to overcome the numerous challenges we face, such as climate change. I believe that the principles behind space technology and sustainable engineering go hand-in-hand, and so I am eager to immerse myself in my learning to develop the vital skills and knowledge that I will need to help tackle these big issues and create a better future for everyone.I am a fourth-year student at the University of Adelaide, where I am studying a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with a Bachelor of Mathematical & Computer Science. The interactions between science, maths and our society, and how these interactions govern the world around us, fascinates me. I am excited at the prospect of learning how engineering principles can be implemented to assist and improve humankind. I hopefully intend to pursue a career in renewable energy or space exploration, as I believe these are captivating and vital pathways that are more important now than ever before.

Adept Rocketry Division Technical Director
Engineering Intern (Satellite Operations)
Adept Rocketry Division Technical Director
I am leading the engineering projects of the Adept Rocketry Division. ARD is a dedicated team of students who design, build, test, and launch high-powered rockets. My role is to lead the technical development of our L3 rocket to compete at the Australian Universities Rocket Competition in September 2024. As the most powerful and complex rocketry project we have undertaken to date, my role demands I ensure all aspects of the rocket development are completed to a high standard for both safety and functionality.
Adept Rocketry Division Team Lead
I was a Team Lead of a student team designing and building High-Powered Rockets. We successfully launched a L2 rocket to 3,000ft at over 10G, with custom-built avionics package including wireless telemetry, as well as a dual-deployment recovery system. This role has given me vital experience in running engineering projects, crucial insight into the engineering design process, and an understanding of the benefits of applying systems engineering concepts to practical projects.
Adept Rocketry Division Recovery Subteam Member
As part of the recovery subteam, I researched and proposed solutions to successfully recover our model rocket after reaching its target apogee. I compared different recovery methods and the physical ways of ejecting the parachute from the rocket, and learnt a lot about how large projects with many internal subsystem interfaces are managed.
Adelaide Rover Team Science Team Member
I am involved with designing and building the scientific payload for our student-built rover. This payload is tasked with sampling simulant lunar regolith to identify water concentration, and extracting this regolith to deposit at an In-Situ Resource Utilisation Module. I developed skills with electronics and microcontroller programming through learning how to control a linear actuator, as well as CAD and 3D-printing where I designed the attachment to fix the moisture sensor to the linear actuator. This has been an exciting opportunity to develop my experience in mechanical and electrical design, microcontroller programming and also the systems engineering processes required to manage such a large and complex student-run project.
Customer Service Assistant
Engineering Intern
I am very excited to start my internship with Neumann Space! I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from such an innovative company and gaining real-world experience with electronics, software development and space technology.
Student Tutor
Tutor for students in Year 11 and 12 in Specialist Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, Chemistry and Physics.I have built a positive and engaging learning relationship with my students, and I enjoy supporting them to achieve their goals and improve their abilities in the subjects that I enjoy teaching.I also find it a valuable way to solidify my own learning, reinforcing the basic concepts of maths and science that I am building on as I continue my study of engineering at University.
Warman Design & Build Challenge State Finalist
My team won the Adelaide Uni Warman Competition and competed at the South Australian competition against UniSA and Flinders, where we had to design and build a device that deposited a specific number of tennis balls into certain tubes located on a 2m long table, without touching the table outside of a specified start-zone. Under weight and size constraints, this challenge was difficult yet enjoyable, and allowed me to apply my learning in CAD, system design, microcontroller programming, and simple robotics. This challenge allowed me to gain vital experience in mechanical design and construction, where we utilised bearings and electric motors, built a solid but lightweight aluminium structure, and 3D-printed parts.
Wait Staff
I worked as a bar/wait staff at Eat@Polly's in The Cube, where I serve customers, prepare food and drinks, and clean.
