Elected by my fellow councillors to serve as Deputy Leader of the Council. Overseeing the finance portfolio and ensuring that Brent delivers a balanced Budget each year whilst protecting the most vulnerable and ensuring the borough can invest in priorities such as new housing.

Serving as a lead member in a large and diverse London borough. Portfolio includes responsibilities for looked after children, fostering, adoption and children’s services. Currently overseeing a large-scale transformation project to ensure all family services can be accessed at designated hubs in each community of Brent.

Managing a team to run the office of a high profile MP and shadow Cabinet Minister.

Working across the public affairs and policy teams of this large disability and social care charity to complete projects to support its policy positions and asks of local, national and devolved governments. Organising parliamentary drop-in events for MP’s to learn about employment, social care and transport campaigns. Promoting the charity at the party-political conferences. Co-Chairing the Public Affairs Group meetings of the Social Care and Support Alliance, which brings together over 80 of Britain’s leading charities to campaign for a properly funded care system.

Recruiting and managing a team of staff to ensure all of the key functions of the offices were fulfilled. Providing extensive administrative and political support to the MPs to ensure they attended all debates and meetings fully briefed and prepared. Representing the MPs in their absence at meetings and events when required.

Managing staff and working flexibly to assist the former Health Secretary in all of his Parliamentary duties. Organising events in Westminster and the MP’s constituency. Acting as first point of contact for all incoming enquiries. Tabling Early Day Motions and Parliamentary Questions, preparing briefings for debates and interviews. Writing speeches to be delivered at events and in the Commons.

Providing political and policy advice on a contractual basis to a newly elected MP. Helped to set up a new Westminster office and recruit staff. Delivering a cross party campaign to promote the right to assisted dying. Working with a diverse coalition to review and improve the Sexual Offences Act. This culminated in a successful amendment to make it easier to prosecute those who commit offences against children.

Public-facing role managing an MP’s constituency office, including junior staff. Representing the MP when dealing with constituents coming to the office for help with a broad range of issues and problems. Quickly developing an understanding of the policies and procedures of multiple government departments. Necessary to achieve swift and satisfactory results for constituents in need.

Policy role, formulating all response to enquiries, campaigns or criticisms from members of the public. Establishing, designing and producing a new monthly e-newsletter, sent to thousands of constituents to update them on the MP’s work in Westminster and their constituency.

First point of contact for customer care enquiries, corporate and personal accounts. Developing exceptional customer services skills and always delivering a top service to clients.
