About Frederick Miller

It took me over a decade to understand the benefits of education, but in that time, unexpected things aligned. I'm an accomplished student services leader, aligning my passions to better understand and make a direct impact on student educational, personal, and personal goals with over 10 years of higher education and 20+ years of customer service experience. I have found that nothing satisfies me more than meeting new people, developing new relationships, solving problems, and contributing to the growth and evolution of student experiences. I believe that the strongest organizations are those in which employees feel connected — to each other and their work. When asked about my job history, quite literally everything from being an EMT, bouncing, bartending, IT and sales, and even higher education stems from a random summer camp counselor job.A native Arizonan, after leaving a successful sales and IT career, I made the move to Higher Education and have worked for and studied at all 3 Arizona state universities across all facets of student services and support. My expertise includes human development and mental health theory and practices; crisis management; data analysis and interpretation; and higher education leadership and program implementation. Outside of my education roles, I challenge myself working with high-risk adolescent populations struggling with social anxiety and OCD as well as a crisis counselor with the Glendale Fire Department's Crisis Response Team.
