Recently presented with 2012 Trailblazer Award from the City of Miami Commission on the Status of Women, by Miami Mayor and City Council. Milli has committed her life to making a difference for others. She has worked extensively with veterans projects to provide services and education to family members on veterans benefits.She is a charter member of Women in the Military Service Memorial, which is a living memorial of military women in Arlington, Virginia. Her advocacy for veterans leads to her receiving a 2004 Congressional Black Caucus Veterans Braintrust Award and a 2008 Florida State Conference NAACP Veterans Meritorious Award. She along with former- Congresswoman Karen Thurman (Florida), who the daughter of a World War II Veteran saw the need and organized the Democratic Veterans Caucus of Florida. Congresswoman Thurman worked with the Clinton administration to establish numerous VA hospitals and clinics throughout the country. Milli is the daughter of Retired Sergeant Major Robert Stevens (posthumous), a 30 year Army veteran and Doris Stevens of Dale City, Virginia and the mother of James Andrew Kidd III, age 21. Keeping with her family motto of "service is the price you pay for the space you occupy", Milli has built an extensive outreach effort in the South Florida, Caribbean Community. She committed herself to continued outreach after the 2010 Haitian Earthquake, when she helped the Haitian community set up temporary command centers to provide services and locate relatives.She has maintained those relationships with professionals and grassroots activist in the Caribbean community by sharing and educating, this important community on political issues and methods of accessing governmental opportunities.
