Other duties: cooked dinner when the chef was out, cleaned 20 years of horded items out of the attic, and once when needed found a lost resident in the woods.

Hired for a six-month contract to create a new Artist-in-Residence Program in the Flint Hills of Kansas. Designed the operational systems: application process, selection criteria and created an orientation handbook. Assisted with site and facilities planning for the 46 acre campus and met with architects. Supported outreach in preparation for a traveling Smithsonian exhibit that also required a local exhibit. Produced virtual programming in consultation with the community to share their stories about the history and culture of the area with a broader audience during Covid. I was the liaison for coordinating the Governor of Kansas, Laura Kelly’s attendance and speech at the Smithsonian opening.

2018-2019 | Oversaw daily operations for a staff of nine, trained and hired employees during a time of transition and growth. Acting director when Executive Director was away. I was a stabilizing presence, assigned to the special projects of tying up loose ends and untangling problems. Managed the Art Invitation and other outreach, development and partnership events. Assisted with grant writing and reporting. While at Sitka, I was instrumental in strategic planning and implementation with reflection on core values and equity, diversity and inclusion. Over the years, I assisted with three capital campaigns, the creation of an endowment and planned the 40th and 50th anniversary parties.

Managed all aspects of programming: artist and teacher applications and selection, scheduling, contracts, financial reporting, outreach events, marketing, website updates, e-newsletters and catalog production. I was instrumental in launching a new website that connected to our FileMaker database. Developed partnerships with the Hatfield Marine Science Center to deepen the ecology connection in our residency program. Created an artist at sea residency and relaunched an ecology focused residency.

2008-2016 | Initially hired as Office Assistant and advanced to Event Coordinator in 2010. For ten years, I coordinated all aspects of the Sitka Art Invitational, an annual outreach event, exhibit and sale of 130 Northwest artists showcasing 400+ works of art. I managed artist selection and communication, venue and contractor contracts, event logistics and set-up, marketing, budgeting, computer and cash systems, volunteer management and training, ran committee meetings and reported to the board. The exhibit included a weekend public exhibit with 2,900 attendees, a preview donor party and an opening party attended by 375 art enthusiasts, and 120 volunteers helping everything to go smoothly. Improved the quality of the show by inviting higher caliber artists which in turn increased attendance by 30% and revenue by 35%.
