About Mindy Gunter

As a person and employee, I'm outgoing, positive, diligent, and detail oriented with an overall love and passion for talking to people and creating meaningful interactions. My skills come from over eleven years in the fields of social work, crisis advocacy, and working with a national non-profit organization. Prior to that, my focus through college was psychology with an emphasis on developmental, social, and abnormal psychology. My previous experience includes working as a Teaching Assistant during my undergraduate years for Dr. Emma Lou Linn, in various courses including abnormal psychology, general psychology, and psychology of serial killers and violent sex offenders. I have additional teaching experience outside of a university setting at a Montessori academy in Austin, TX. My interests include social justice issues, victim advocacy, psychology, creative thinking, and working collaboratively with individuals for a shared common goal. I feel most successful when I'm able to directly connect with people and come up with creative strategies for navigating their needs. I've had ongoing training in crisis intervention, victim advocacy services, the Appreciative Inquiry method, and trauma informed ethical communication.
