My experience in the healthcare and community fields spans nearly 25 years, with experience in the dental, specialty medicine, primary care clinics as well as retail pharmacy. Recently I earned a certification as a CHW- Community Health Worker in the state of Missouri.Currently, I am employed as a CHW at Saint Luke’s Health System (BJC) in the East Region.From a young age I found volunteering to be a rewarding way to engage with my community. Community Health Work offers the opportunity to blend my passion for community and patient care.I also serve as an Executive Board member, Programs Committee chair, Volunteer coordinator and volunteer with WestiNd Connection, a non profit organization in Independence Missouri. WestiNd serves the LGBTQ+ community members and their families by offering a safe space, support and community events. Other committees and projects include- serving on the Programs Committee with Save Inc. I am thrilled to expand my knowledge regarding housing disparities and barriers in our city. My hope is that while serving I will be able to offer insight to community needs and be a small part of the solution. On a city level, I serve on the Human Relations Commission for the City of Independence.I love my community and enjoy finding new ways to get involved.
