Finnish Institute for Educational Research conducts internationally esteemed multidisciplinary research on education. The research ranges from primary education to university education as well as adult learning to the relationships between education and working life. The aim is to support teachers, educational establishments and decision-makers in the promotion of learning and development of education. The research and development activities open different views to educational phenomena and produce reliable information in order to support both national-level and educational establishment policiesI worked in the Equity team and Higer Education Reasearch Group at FIER : the Equity Team comprise of members who come from different units of the Campus, but all have in common to be interested in working on issues related to equity, social justice, language, communication, and/or education. Together we organize events, workshops, and learning groups for ourselves, our colleagues, and the whole Language Campus community. Currently, the following questions keep us busy:What is institutional racism, how does it show on our campus, and what can we do to challenge it?What does culturally sustaining/relevant teaching look like in our contexts?How can our workplace become more inclusive and welcoming of diversity?What is intersectional feminism and how can we bring it into our work?What are alternative (e.g., anti-colonial) approaches to internationalization?How can we diversify our community?… and many more …

---Organizing AssistantI have been privileged to be part of the Local Organizing Committee for ETMU Days 2023, a prestigious event hosted by the University of Jyväskylä. This event, scheduled from November 29 to December 1, 2023, is the 20th conference of the Society for the Study of Ethnic Relations and International Migration (ETMU). The conference focuses on "Structures of Power and Oppression," exploring their various forms and impacts through multidisciplinary discussions and research presentations.As an organizing assistant, my responsibilities have included:- Assisting in the coordination and management of event , programs logistics and schedules.- Facilitating communication and collaboration among committee members to ensure smooth execution of the conference.- Providing support in organizing the pre-conference event for Ph.D. students and the reception for participants.( Protest Pub Event)- Facilitating one of the Conference workshops- Contributing to the creation and distribution of Social media campaign , event materials and information to attendees.- Co-assisting with organizing volunteers for Conference.
