An industry scientist in the minimally invasive biosensing space, I am comfortable leaning into challenges inherent to startup innovation. Effective working among cross functional, diverse groups, within regulated industries, I develop, test, troubleshoot, and iterate early to growth phase medical devices, readying them for clinic and manufacturing scale up.

Associate ScientistOne Drop Jul 2020 - Apr 2023Menlo Park, California, United StatesBiosensor Manufacturing Scale-up:Working towards scale-up and technology transfer with our manufacturing partner, I have transferred our laboratory process to a low grade cleanroom and written manufacturing controls and procedures. Myself and the rest of the sensor team are continuing to implement and document process optimizations targeted at improving wafer yield, variability, overall wet chemical process transferability, and final product assembly.Process Development:Alongside software and hardware development efforts, I make significant contributions to wet chemical processing of silicon wafers. Using numerous electrochemical techniques and performing controlled experiments, I define acceptance criteria and core functionality requirements for sensor production. I do so while communicating regularly with our science, engineering and contractor team members to continually implement and document process optimizations. Biosensor Development:Building upon the significant contributions of my predecessors, I re-validated the core biosensor technology by producing and testing sensors produced by proprietary high throughput silicon and wet chemical processing. -
Research AssociateProfusa Aug 2018 - Jul 2020Emeryville, California, United StatesAs a Research Associate in the Sensor Development Department, I was immersed in cross-functional projects, not only characterizing in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo performance of novel implantable biosensors, but also testing, iterating, and developing systems and processes making further sensor characterization and iteration possible. Highlighting two such projects: first, I optimized a dip coating process and lead lean manufacturing of a highly iterative multi-analyte biosensor, producing biosensors maintaining structural integrity and analyte modulating capabilities at least thirty days post implantation; and second, I created a semi-automated histological image analysis algorithm, implementing various workflows and scripts, from start to its current, fully functional state. The results informed a compelling direction. -
Research AssistantshipTexas A&M University Nov 2016 - May 2018Bryan/College Station, Texas AreaCollaborated in NIH grant funded research deeply probing the molecular mechanisms by which polyunsaturated fatty acids modulate both NAFLD risk in rodent models carrying the FADS-1 knockout and colon cancer initiation in a spontaneous model. Performed molecular biology techniques in various characterizations of the model system and optimized a fluorescent cholesterol quantification assay as part of a major lab focus on plasma membrane rigidity and its implications in various metabolic diseases.Nutrition Science Graduate Association Symposium, Texas A&M Presented a poster in April 2017 on “The role of cholesterol in an oncogenic APC580S/+ and KRASG12D/+ model of colon tumorigenesis.” -
Intern- Qc Assay DevelopmentIbio, Inc. Jun 2017 - Aug 2017Bryan/College Station, Texas AreaAs an intern, I optimized an in vitro assay as a downstream process control. The project was part of a greater manufacturing scale-up effort to enhance iBio’s CDMO capabilities and entailed Native PAGE characterization of biopharmaceuticals generated by a transient expression platform. I authored quality control SOP documents and concluded my internship experience with an accessible talk on the project’s progress to a company-wide audience. -
Chemistry Laboratory TechnicianAstrix Technology Group Apr 2014 - Sep 2014212 Terminal Way San Pedro, Ca 90731As a Chemistry Laboratory Technician Temp, I performed critical safety tests and volunteered assistance with nutritional testing, leading to a successful formulation lock for a new pet hygiene product that was taken to market. -
InternUc Davis Apr 2012 - Sep 2013Sacramento, California AreaDuring my internship at UC Davis I conducted original research investigating the response of the gastrointestinal tract of young pigs (a model for the human child) to consumption of transgenic cow’s milk containing human lactoferrin (hLF) protein. Attached is the paper I coauthored to report my findings as well as a poster I presented at the UC Davis Undergraduate Research Conference. -
InstructorEarly Engineers-The Premier After School Building Enrichment Program Aug 2012 - Feb 2013Sacramento, California AreaMy Duties as an instructor included presenting material to elementary school aged children about basic engineering principles, from all branches of engineering through a curriculum based lecture and through practical application and exploration using legos, Knex, Citiblocks, and various other child friendly mediums as "building materials.” It was also my duty to promote creativity and teamwork among the students in my classes.
