As part of the Molecular Genetic Tools team, my work focused on generating & characterizing cell-type specific transgenic & viral tools for the labeling and perturbation of complex neural circuits within the mouse brain. - Transgenic mouseline generation: molecular cloning, in vitro testing, stem cell culture, modified ES cell generation via recombinase-mediated cassette exchange & CRISPR-Cas9 targeting, in vivo characterization - Generation of cell-type specific enhancer AAV viruses for whole brain labeling- Analyzed both transgenic & viral in vivo expression patterns through sectioning fixed brain tissue, performing immunohistochemistry experiments, coordinating cross-team validation efforts, collecting epifluorescence & confocal images, and gathering quantitative cell count data.

Working with the University of Washington’s Comparative Medicine Transgenic Resource Program, I assisted in the generation and rederivation of transgenic mice. Responsibilities included mouse embryonic stem cell culture work, mouse handling, phenotype data collection, and performing precise embryo collection procedures within a rigorous academic lab setting.
