I work with brands to craft their narrative: from defining content strategies and identifying target audiences to developing unique stories and managing a team of 6-10 reporters to execute them. I ‘think’ multiplatform, creating video, blogs, graphics, interactives and photos that can be easily distributed across social channels - think YouTube, Medium, Facebook, Twitter and more (I do!) - to further amplify the content. My role includes looking at predictive analytics to see what conversations are already happening online before we report stories as well as using post-publication analytics to determine how our content did. I love experimenting with new social channels and ways to tell stories and managing a large team of freelancers to come up with the best ideas and execute them. Clients include large enterprise tech firms, looking to build newsrooms, as well as those aiming to develop corporate and social responsibility channels online.

Reporter covering a range of stories: from breaking news to enterprise. Major areas of coverage: Superstorm Sandy and the ongoing recovery, Boston Marathon victims finding a new normal, families of Oklahoma tornado victims fighting for school safety, the aftermath of the Newtown school shooting, the struggle for equal rights for the LGBT community (including gay marriage, the Boy Scouts and the San Antonio 4), the rise and fall of Occupy Wall Street (traveling to several cities to chronicle the movement), immigration and Asia. I’m constantly developing sources, generating story ideas, writing on deadline as well as long form, and collaborating with editors, TV partners and other writers.

Hong Kong

In this role, I worked with TV teams and freelancers across Asia (and periodically in London and Atlanta) to produce breaking news and enterprise content for the website (features, special projects, photo galleries, interactives, etc.). It required strong organizational skills and in-depth knowledge of the key issues facing countries in the Asia Pacific. I reported enterprise articles and I did daily production on the website, including running the home page once a week.

Responsibilities included editing stories from across Asia, translating copy from French into English and getting it wire-ready, liaising with photos and multimedia about coverage, occasional reporting.
