Recorded bilingual database to measure non-nativeness. Acoustic analyses of how first language vowel characteristics influence the production of second language vowels.2008–2011 EMIME (Effective Multilingual Interaction in Mobile Environments), EU-FP7STREP.Multi-site research project personalized speech-to-speech translation such that a user’s spoken input in one language is used to produce spoken output in another language, while continuing to sound like the user’s voice.Performed research on cross-lingual talker recognition and accent rating. Evaluation of effectiveness of the speaker adaptation in synthesis.2004–2008 Edinburgh-Stanford link, Scottish Enterprise.Project titled: “Automatic speech recognition (ASR) using loosely-coupled HMMs with articulatory-acoustic features”.An extension of the work carried out in the Talent Fellowship.2003 Talent Fellowship, NWO, Dutch Government.Project titled: “Articulatory-acoustic features in ASR: beyond the “beads-on-a-string” paradigm”.Research investigating efficacy of articulatory features in syllables rather than phonemes for ASR.
