Michael has extensive experience leading Gleeds’ international business operations, and in his capacity as a Non-executive Director is responsible for providing strategic oversight of investment, planning and performance of the Gleeds group.Having joined Gleeds in 1999 to take responsibility for Gleeds’ mainland European business, Michael was subsequently appointed to the Executive Board to grow Gleeds’ entire business operation outside of the UK. Under his direction the international business has grown to represent 40% of global turnover, engaging over 1,000 staff across 5 continents, and comprising a client portfolio of $4bn worth of projects.Prior to joining Gleeds, Michael worked for Trafalgar House, a major international contractor, and Mandarin Oriental, a subsidiary of the Jardine Matheson Group, based in Hong Kong. During this period Michael gained extensive experience throughout South-east Asia, working in Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Myanmar, recognising the importance of understanding local environments.
