I lead the Office of Academic Affairs at the Alabama School of Mathematics & Science, where I work in curriculum design, teacher training, and student academic excellence. I also teach English courses for college and gifted high school students. My research area is 20th Century American Literature, but I write on British Literature, African-American Literature, Pop Culture, Games Studies, and Game Design, as well.I understand and respect the challenge of working with highly intelligent students and faculty members. Every day, I come to work eager to engage the twin difficulties of harnessing our community's brainpower and cultivating an environment of integrity-- and I recognize that these goals must be pursued in ways that preserve the mental and emotional wellbeing of our stakeholders.
