Unit handled lines of business and territory listed under Specialty Claim Manager. $200,000 in reserve and settlement authority. Responsibilities include:• Interview, hire, terminate, train, and develop new staff members. • Conduct performance reviews, salary administration, and personnel administration. • Conduct Claim audits.• Approve coverage letters, review and approve reserves that exceed adjuster authority; approve all reinsurance reports before sending to the reinsurer; reconcile all runs related to unit’s operation. • Report monthly to executive management concerning all matters of staffing, significant case developments, trial activity, and expense control. • Direct all aspects of file handling to ensure proper direction and strategy.• Directly handle a pending of construction defect and GL (labor Law, coverage B, lead paint, other environmental) consisting of significant coverage and large losses.• Attend Mediations- Complex, large exposure, and coverage.Special Duties:• Member of the Large Loss Committee that conferences all losses that exceed office authority. The committee gives reserve and settlement authority and recommendations for claim handling.• Litigation Coordinator. Ensure counsel and adjusters adhere to company’s litigation program. This includes training staff and defense firms in the litigation management program; conduct external audits for defense firms. Approve all conversion of flat fee litigated files to a different tier or time and expense.• Member of the Contractor Committee- members consists of senior management from Underwriting, Claims, Product Development, Legal and Actuarial. Objective is to align the company with the current Underwriting environment with regard to appetite, pricing, risk transfer, legislation and claim trends.

Reserve and settlement authority $250,000. Developed the MCU Large Loss Report utilized by all MCU’s for evaluating large reserve increases.
