As Managing Director at GM Fire, Mitchell was responsible for the ongoing management of the business including being a hands on project manager for the business fire Installation Services of various construction sites. This included coordinating with the managing contractor, subcontractors and employees. Mitchell was involved in the estimating, contract management, supervision, quality/safety/environmental management and project close out aspects of the projects.At Irving Oil, Mitchell was responsible for leading Project Procurement for the Sales and Marketing divisions. Working on a diverse range of projects (petroleum upgrades, retail store construction) as well as leading category management for the Retail, Big Stop Restaurants, Fleet, Irving Blending & Packaging, Wholesale & Specialty products, Delivered Natural Gas, Tractor Trailer Operations and Irving Energy.At Grocon, Mitchell was responsible for the management of construction projects valued between $35m and $400m. During his 7 and a half years with Grocon He worked on 7 different construction projects including the 2018 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village ($400m, 1100 apartments), Peppers Broadbeach ($360m, 5 star hotel with 500 rooms) and 150 Collins St ($140m, 12 storey office building). He was involved in these projects from the various stages of the project lifecycle which allowed him to develop his skills in design management, planning, cost engineering, procurement, contract negotiation, stakeholder management, reporting/forecasting, contract dispute resolution, payment administration, Quality/Safety/Environmental management and project completion management.
