As a Teaching Associate at Monash University, I educated students from a range of undergraduate courses including: Bachelor of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Human Services, Bachelor of Emergency Medicine and Bachelor of Radiation Sciences. The 'Introduction to Public Health' unit provides an overview of public health as a discipline, and looks at public health/health promotion approaches to preventing illness/death/disease. I oversaw two tutorial classes and moderated online activities that supplemented lecture and tutorial content.

The Child Family Community Australia (CFCA) team’s role is to translate knowledge and evidence into built-for-purpose resources for the child, family and welfare services sector. Through a range of communication platforms we generate, activate and communicate knowledge in order to build sector capacity and in turn improve outcomes for children and families. Through collaborative planning with internal and external stakeholders, including most importantly the community of Greater Dandenong, my role is to facilitate the implementation of Council’s Community Wellbeing Plan (Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan). By influencing the environments in which CGD residents live, work, study and play my role aims to make healthy choices and behaviours accessible, equitable and easy to implement.

I am the Health Promotion and Innovations Manager at enliven (South East Healthy Communities Partnership). enliven works with a range of local organisations and communities across the cities of Casey, Cardinia and Greater Dandenong to address the social determinants that impact community health and wellbeing.I oversee a range of initiatives that aim to ameliorate health inequities across south eastern Melbourne. Initiatives include: Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) collaborative planning, mental health promotion, health literacy, CALD community action and more!

My primary role is to plan, deliver and evaluate two community strengthening projects that aim to enhance health literacy and appropriate access of health services among refugee and asylum seeker communities. To do this I work in partnership with local health and social service providers, settlement services, community based organisations and local government. Most importantly however, these projects are led by the community and involve strong relationships with community leaders and volunteers.

I was the sole Community Engagement and Social Marketing Officer working within the Aged and Disability Department at Darebin City Council. In this role I was tasked with overseeing the development of all communication materials and strategies for the Department. This involved extensive consultation with the Department's key audiences - older people and people with a disability. These consultations, as well as previous experience in healthy literacy and communications were used to inform engagement and communication strategies and resource development. I also implemented capacity building and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the Department's communication practices continued to improve in a sustainable way.I provided executive support to Council's Active and Healthy Ageing Board - an official advisory committee comprised of older people living in Darebin. This involved utilising input from the Board as an internal advocacy platform, with the aim of ensuring older people were considered in the planning of Council's services, programs and events. It also involved supporting Board members to take ownership of grass-roots events that they initiated.

My time at the South Eastern Melbourne Medicare Local (SEMML) provided me with an enormous number of learning and professional development opportunities. As a Health Promotion Program Officer within the Population Health and Planning team, I dedicated myself to projects that aimed to influence the social determinants of health, health inequities and inequalities. Some of these included: - Facilitating SEMML's internal approach to health literacy and becoming a health literate organisation- Supporting SEMML's lead agency responsibilities within the South Eastern Regional Health Literacy Taskforce - Co-authoring the development of a 6 chapter audiovisual resource and accompanying materials. These were developed with and for the local Afghan community to improve health literacy and health service utilisation - Collaboration with the education sector to embed health promotion principles into a number of education & training packages- Establishing partnerships and collaborating with local partners to deliver regional health promotion program and events .. among many others
