Sport has never just been a game to me, it’s been a way of life ever since I can remember. However, once it dawned on me I wasn't going to be a professional athlete, I explored other avenues to make a career in the sports industry. For the past 5 years I’m humbled to have the opportunity to work within my true sporting passion, the AFL, as part of AFL Queensland’s Competitions team. Currently I'm proud to lead a team of 14 who manage a range of Junior, Youth and Senior Competitions across Southeast Queensland, encompassing over 22,000 participants. My path into the industry has been extremely rewarding, initially studying Sports Management at the University of Canberra, a highlight of which was a year long internship with Touch Football Australia, working on the National Events and Australian Trans-Tasman program. Electing to move regionally to Toowoomba after graduating University, I began work with Downs Rugby as a Club Development Officer. After two years in the role, I spent nearly two years working and travelling abroad before returning to Toowoomba and Downs Rugby to take up the General Managers role for the next 3 seasons prior to moving into the AFL. Sport creates so many positive benefits to people on a physical, mental and social level, and I will always strive to progress the sport around me, no matter my role in the industry.
