Hurricane Sally caused extensive damage to the Alabama Gulf Coast in 2020, with many multi-family units (condominiums) receiving serious exterior and interior damage. I was invited to come on board for a temporary two month stay (that has become more permanent) to help this great company get caught up with the enormous amount of work. My immediate boss calls me a "hybrid" because I can use my skills in a myriad of areas, but again my leadership skills have allowed me to enjoy a whole new horizon during the uncertainty of a pandemic year. The latest adventure is in the area of creating a giving culture within the organization. My wife, Lisa, and I are now traveling to job sites periodically to serve our workers a delicious meal simply to say “thank you!” It's an honor to serve with C-Sharpe, a Specialty Contractor, whose business model core is integrity-based.

It is my role to develop and maintain plans of emergency preparedness programs for the people of Baldwin County. I serve at the pleasure of the Baldwin County Commission as an appointed department head. In addition to meeting guidelines from FEMA and Alabama EMA, it is my responsibility to maintain the emergency operations center in an incident-ready state, including being prepared for hurricanes, as well as other natural and man-made hazards. I have the pleasure of leading a team of 6 full-time qualified & motivated personnel but can at any moment be leading a team of 50 inside the Emergency Operations Center. (Retired in 2015 with 37 years of public safety credit in the retirement system!)

As Conductor and Artistic Director, I led the Coastal Chorale, an auditioned show choir that performs 3 large shows a year in Baldwin County, AL. My responsibilities included creating a show with music, choreography, skits and the weekly rehearsals needed to offer fantastic and entertaining Summer, Christmas and Snowbird Serenade performances. This group was made up of approximately 50 very talented vocalists who performed everything from classical to contemporary, Broadway to Sacred music. Upon my appointment as Director of the Baldwin County EMA, I stepped down to fulfill that very demanding job. But, oh what great fun and music we had during my time there!

As Battalion Chief of the "A" Shift, I was responsible for Incident Command every third day in the City of Gulf Shores. This role included responsibility for managing three fire stations and the personnel who responded to fire and EMS emergencies, plus all scheduling and shift personnel-related administration. I began my career there in 1984 as a firefighter/paramedic and worked my way up to Battalion Chief before being appointed as Director of the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency.

Planned and led worship services on a weekly basis for a congregation of 400. Led a praise band, worship team and gospel choir plus played keyboard for all services.
