About Mitchell Cox

A forty-year veteran educator with the bulk of his experience as a classroom high school and middle school language arts teacher, I currently serve as the Dean of Faculty, supporting teachers by giving them feedback on their instruction and modeling best teaching practices, writing and developing curriculum, facilitating communication among teachers, tutors, parents, and students. students by tutoring them in a variety of subjects, closely monitoring their academic progress, teaching study skills classes and special lessons in ELA and social studies, and overseeing the implementation of interdisciplinary projects. An experienced, passionate, diligent, and dedicated educator, I love teaching, especially writing. I bristle when I hear the cliché: those who cannot do teach. • I teach rather because I can do. • I teach composition because I can write. • I teach public speaking because I stand in front of a class of adolescents daily, performing, holding their attention, drawing them into a world of words, showing them the power of language and the language of power. • I inspire students in the appreciation of literature because I write poetry, fiction, and essays. Having published some poetry and numerous essays about teaching writing and literature, I still dream of publishing my own books. In the meantime, I write daily, and when I still have the opportunity to teach writing, I am a writer teaching writing.

Listed skills include Curriculum Design, Curriculum Development, Teaching, Classroom, and 42 others.
