Performs periodic simulator and aircraft flight test validation for MITRE experimental research projects. • Member of FAA Air Carrier Training (ACT) Aviation Rule making Committee (ARC) Flight Path Management (FPM) Working Group. Provides support to the FAA ACT ARC Steering Committee in developing recommendations for new or updated guidance material, notices, handbooks; for air carrier training and qualification.• Principal Investigator and lead author of MITRE study “Flight Path Management: An Analysis of Air Carrier Standard Operating Procedures”. • Conducted operational research activities in areas including, Loss of Control (LOC), Upset Prevention Recovery Training (UPRT), Flight Deck Automation, and Flight Deck Display.Project Team Manager – ASIAS Strategic Planning and Special Studies GroupLead and mentor 10-15 staff who conducts research and development to discover common, systemic safety problems that span multiple airlines and corporate operators. • Achieved five-fold growth in ASIAS air carrier participation comprising over 97% of all scheduled FAR Part 121 flight operations and developed ASIAS global collaboration strategy. In 2013, successfully extended the ASIAS air carrier model to the Corporate/Business communities and generated plans to engage the General Aviation sector.• Organized and executed the Aviation Fatigue: Building a Bridge Between Research and Operational Needs symposium, which included 50 presentations as well as 300 global attendees. Generated and presented the Aviation Fatigue Research Roadmap: A Framework for Partnership that formalized the collaborative process for multi-agency, industry-wide aviation fatigue research and mitigation efforts.

International Captain - Delivered safe, secure and efficient air transportation in addition to excellent customer service. Acted as pilot in command for over 21 years and logged 17,000 total hours. Trained pilots as a simulator instructor/check airman.

Chairman Airport Ground Environment (AGE) Committee - Managed 40 domestic and international projects to advocate the pilot’s perspective as it pertains to airports and their interactions with aircraft design and operation in the air traffic control scheme. ALPA representative to the International Federation of Air Line Pilots Association (IFALPA) AGE committee. Chairman Operations Committee (OpsCom) - Coordinated air safety issues for over 60,000 ALPA pilots representing 47 member airlines. The OPSCOM serves as a forum to discuss mutual concerns and direct ALPA safety activities throughout the ALPA air safety organization.Founder/Instructor - ALPA Safety School - Initiated and taught safety/accident investigation education to over 1,000 ALPA, government and industry professionals. Chairman - Comair Central Air Safety Committee - Led evolutionary growth of volunteer safety organization of 1900 pilots while advancing a cooperative, proactive partnership with the Comair management team. Achieved first Aviation Safety Action Plan (ASAP) within Delta Airlines system. Executed multi-stakeholder Safety Risk Management (SRM) exercise to evaluate CRJ operations into Key West, Florida. ALPA NTSB Party Coordinator - NTSB Major Accident Investigation - Comair 3272. Spearheaded investigation following the loss of Comair Flight 3272 in Monroe, Michigan. Devised and first fully integrated use of the ALPA Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP) within all facets of the investigation resulting in 100% retention of team members. Produced comprehensive submission to the NTSB with 25 recommendations designed to prevent similar accidents and incidents. Educated and briefed individual NTSB board members on ALPA recommendations, resulting in NTSB recommendations reflecting key ALPA positions. Communicated ALPA’s position to government, industry and the traveling public via on-camera and print interviews.
