Transformed the IT organization from a manual waterfall based SDLC to one embracing lean agile techniques to deliver software more reliably. Within the SQA organization, that involved developing and implementing automated test programs for both backlog and new product development. In one existing product area, an unpredictable 12 week regression cycle was reduced to a predictable 3 week (and shrinking) cycle with greater code coverage. In other new product areas, Test Driven Development (TDD) techniques were introduced to automate all testing within the same sprint cycle resulting in new product releases that can be immediately certified for release.Managing a SQA organization of 50+ persons across 6 different product lines including both on-shore and off-shore teams and was responsible for budget for entire department of 100+ persons. Led and participated in various cross functional teams aimed at software test automation, high-value customer retention, agile and lean adoption and various tool adoption projects.

TestQuest (former company) has been purchased by bSquare.Responsibilities remain as indicated in the previous section, with the addition that I also was the General Manager for the Chanhassen division of bSquare.

Responsible for managing the product development, professional services and Quality Assurance (QA) teams.The product development team utilized Scrum to design and implement an automated software test product (CountDown) on the .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.0 technologies. Key technologies included WCF, SQL Server, nhibernate.Professional Services provides outsourced project based work, primarily developing test automation inside our product offering for our customer base.The QA team was responsible for testing of our products.

I joined the organization to start a new arm of their consulting business which specialized in outsourced software testing projects. I got that off the ground and grew it to about 7 full time people during the time I was there.

I started at B-Tree as the Manager of the software test group (2 people at the time). Also was Director of Advanced Services (Customer Software / Hardware Development) and Director of Systems Engineering (Sales Engineering). My direct reports varied from 2 to 25 persons during this time. The company produced a real time logic analyzer software test tool, with primary market focus in the medical device industry.

I was a software validation engineer on the test automation team charged with implementing automated test for a variety of pacemaker programmers. This generally involved working first with the software requirements to develop software testing requirements and then implementing them within the test automation tool, which was essentailly programming in C language.
