As a specialist it was my duty to carry out the plans set forth for improving the ecosystem. Duties included running transects for plant ID on new and already owned property. This information was then used with different departments in the open space program to coordinate what the land could be used for in the future, or if current use needed to be modified.Other projects included forest thinning, where directional felling is adverse weather conditions was prevalent. I obtained much saw experience along with running big machinery such as: skidder, skid steer, wood processor, and chippers.We coordinated with volunteers and children to get others exposure to the work we do and the outdoors.

As a laboratory technician I have the tasks of processing data collected during the summer of 2013, for a doctoral candidate who has adopted this project. My responsibilities include manually entering the data into a database, where I can create maps when necessary and further analysis can be completed. Tree core samples were collected from each sample tree, that I must orient and mount correctly, sand to the appropriate grit for viewing under a microscope, cross-date, and measure tree ring width of specific years.
