Enabling next generation technologies to unlock the power of the genome

Realizing quantum computers and communication networks requires entities called qubits in which single bits of quantum information can be encoded, and the ability to control interactions between many such qubits. My research with Prof. Marko Lončar has focused on developing color-centers in diamond as qubits towards these goals. I designed and performed experiments on devices with these color-center qubits. This included pioneering innovative fabrication methods for integrated photonics in exotic materials, like diamond.Through my projects, I have gained experience taking creative ideas between various stages of design, troubleshooting, and data analysis, and on collaborating with theory and experiment groups. I have also developed technical expertise in quantum optics, spectroscopy, integrated photonics and nanofabrication. My work as a graduate student extended into a postdoctoral fellowship in Feb. 2016. See below for a summary of work done in my full tenure at Harvard SEAS.
Cambridge, Ma, Usa
•Pioneered a diamond photonics platform for evolving optical quantum networks. -Conceived (patented) innovative fabrication of integrated photonics in exotic materials. -Designed and performed experiments requiring delicate cleanroom fabrication, construction of optical setups, RF electronics, UHV, and cryogenics. -Currently developing a hybrid diamond quantum transducer.•Overhauled lab space for greater efficiency, safety, and ease of use. Managed capital expenditures in excess of $1MM.•Mentored and managed junior team members at various experience levels. -Undergraduate interns (7), Master’s students (2), and PhD candidates (3).Notable work: Science 354 (6314), 847-850 (2016); Nat. Commun. 5 (5718), 1-7 (2014); & U.S. Patent no. 8,999,105
Cambridge, Ma, Usa
Eng. Sci. 176/276: Introduction to MEMS. Five semesters as lead teaching fellow.
Pasadena, Ca, Usa
• Introduced advanced techniques for highly parallelized sample fabrication while maintaining precise geometric/microstructural control.• Generated new understanding of size-dependent properties for materials used in BEOL and IC packaging.Notable work: Phys. Rev. Lett. 104, 135503, (2010); Nano Lett. 10 (1), 69-76 (2010); & U.S. Patent no. 8,299,341
