Project: DSCOVR Ground System Software• In collaboration with a peer developer I architected and implemented code for ground system software for the space weather portions of the DSCOVR satellite (Deep Space Climate Observatory). The software received encoded satellite telemetry, and transformed the raw data though intermediate steps into scientifically useful information. The output is archived in a database and the NOAA NCEI archiving system, and is presented on the SWPC (Space Weather Prediction Center) web site to the public. I created the overall architecture of multi-threaded Java modules connected with the zeroMQ high performance messaging library. The software was required to span multiple security domains and multiple computing hosts, as well as a database host. I created data and status real time plots for the SWPC web page. I interfaced with peer organizations at NASA, NOAA, and international ground station facilities for technical interface testing and ground systems issues once DSCOVR was operational. I received performance awards from CU/CIRES and NASA for my work on this project.
