Mr. Turco is the General Manager/CEO of the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District near Houston, Texas. Mr. Turco leads a team of highly skilled professionals with the mission to cease subsidence in Harris and Galveston Counties in Texas. Mr. Turco spent 17 years working for the USGS, serving as the Chief of the USGS Texas Water Science Center's Gulf Coast Program Office, located near Houston, Texas, from 2004-2013. Besides regulating groundwater withdrawal to address the subsidence concern, the Subsidence District also has a strong Water Conservation Program and an active Science and Research Program. Mr. Turco is interested in a broad base of surface-water and ground-water research. Specific interests include the interaction between surface- and ground-water in unconsolidated aquifers, and the effects of development on long-term resource viability and subsidence. His technical background is in surface-water hydrology, numerical modeling, and subsidence. Mr. Turco is a member of the Region H water planning group, the Trinity and San Jacinto Basin and Bay expert science team, and the Trinity and San Jacinto Basin and Bay Stakeholder group. He is a member of the National Groundwater Association and the Texas Water Conservation Association.
