Currently, I am the co- chair of a capital campaign committee for my fraternity chapter's board of directors. Our goal is to complete a $2 million chapter house renovation and raise a majority of the funds. -Identified program and funding opportunities within the organization and seek funding-Conducted independent research for grant opportunities-Plan and organize project activities-Maintain and foster relationships with corporate and foundation funders-Wrote, edited and submited grant proposals, letters of inquiry, thank you letters, and project reports to funders-Stewarded grant funds for specific programs and relationships with current grantors-Secured $265,000 in grants, sponsorships, and in-kind donations to support donor testing, recruitment, research, and blood recipients-Attained two grants ($50,000 and $20,000) from the Foundation of America's Blood Centers for an "Iron Depletion and Replacement Study in Blood Donors" that is in conjunction with Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center in Davenport, Iowa-Secured a $50,000 grant from the Fred C. and Katherine B. Andersen Foundation to test existing and qualified platelet donors to be a match for critically ill newborn babies with a condition called with neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (NAIT). NAIT is a life-threatening condition with spontaneous and uncontrolled bleeding often resulting in death or life-long disabilities in newborns. The the only effective treatment for the newborn is platelets from a matched blood donor.

I studied in a cohort style learning model with some truly amazing friends and professionals. The program is taught by practitioners who are experts in their fields. The information I learned from my professors and classmates could be implemented at work the next day. My classes were intense eight week courses versus fourteen week semesters. This allowed me to get a three year degree in two years. Getting this graduate degree was one of the best decisions I have ever made personally and professionally.
