I changed careers after spending almost four years in the telecommunications industry selling telephone systems, software, and associated products. I have become quite fond of technology, but my true passion lies in helping others and social justice. My experiences volunteering for my fraternity and being on the TKE staff for a school year, have truly paved my journey. I began my masters in non-profit management from Hamline University in fall 2009. I learned a lot, enjoyed the program a great deal, and made some lifelong friendships and professional contacts with some amazing people. I graduated with a Masters in Nonprofit Management in August 2011. I ended a grant writing and research internship at the Courage Center in June 2011; what an amazing organization and mission. At the Courage Center, I researched grant opportunities as well as giving trends, and most importantly I wrote grants. I uncovered over 50 new funding opportunities for the Courage Center. My grant writing focus was Camp Courage and Sports and Recreation, specifically power soccer.I ended an exciting role at Fraser as their Special Gifts Manager where I raised major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations to support programs and organizational growth. I have a personal connection to the mission, and it is an honor to help clients and families lead a quality life. In addition to this role, I am also an independent development consultant. Prior to these roles I was a grant writer for Memorial Blood Centers in St. Paul and for Angel Foundation in Minneapolis. The best thing about working in development is being able to have an impact on the lives of many--thanks to generous donated funds from the community.
