I have recently graduated with distinction from the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Environmental Engineering Option Co-op Program at the University of Alberta, and am currently looking to begin my engineering career. My three co-op terms have given me a wide range of experiences in municipal engineering such as RFP creation and proposal review, policy review and preparing council reports, and development of a methodology for determining the carbon neutrality of a residential development. My time management skills have allowed me to be successful working in a fast-paced environment such as my co-op position with the City of Edmonton’s Renewable Energy Systems section. In this role, I prepared multiple requests for proposals for both public tender and open order, as well as supplier performance evaluations, contract documents, and evaluation criteria for these RFPs. As well, during my time with the City, I developed a methodology for determining the carbon neutrality and renewable energy percentage for the Blatchford development, and prepared a technical report detailing my findings to assist with achieving Council’s vision for the project. Furthermore, to ensure smooth operation of the Blatchford Renewable Energy Utility, I engaged with diverse stakeholders on a daily basis including engineering and legal consultants, City Law and IT departments, and EPCOR representatives. Additionally, I have worked at the City of Camrose in the Engineering Services section. At the City of Camrose, I researched policies and guidelines from other municipal, provincial, and federal governments on local improvement projects and pedestrian safety device implementation, and prepared summary reports for Council outlining the differences between these guidelines and Camrose’s policies. At the City, I also developed and implemented the 2017 unidirectional flushing program, where I modelled the change in water flow direction and velocity in WaterCAD.
