The day I graduated from high school my literature teacher told me I wouldn’t last more than a few months as an electromechanical engineer student because my true passion and talent laid in the arts. Surprisingly, he was only half right – I lasted two years before switching my major. And from that moment on, I have never looked back! My bachelor’s degree in Sound Engineering allowed me to begin my journey in the creative industries, but I knew that my academic journey was far from over! This is why I decided to join an associate degree in arts at LaSalle College Vancouver – class of September 2024. 😄🎓My passion for storytelling has always been the backbone of my life, which is woven by the deepest love for videogames, books, cinema, and music. Lucky for me, my work as a development coordinator demands a never-ending exploration of all these realms, as it is crucial that at the forefront of the industry’s trends. From my background in sound engineering to my current role as a script analyst and development coordinator, I am building a diverse skill set that aligns seamlessly with the technical world of narrative design. My ultimate goal is to be part of a team that crafts experiences that go beyond mere entertainment but can also resonate deeply with the audience's heart and spine. One of the highlights include a coalition with two other companies with the goal of producing an ambitious number of films over the course of just a few years. This exciting new project required a person specifically dedicated to coordinate all development efforts – here’s where my new role was born 🤩My responsibilities as Development Coordinator include:· 💼 ManagerialAs a part of a team with members distributed over 5 different countries, it has been my responsibility to orchestrate remote meetings, maintain clear communication across various teams, and coordinate all development efforts for various simultaneous projects. · 📝 Script consultantI am a creative storyteller at my core. In this new role, I maintain my previous responsibilities as a collaborator with multiple writers to help them improve their screenplay, ensuring a balance between creativity and marketability. This required research skills that allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of various cultures, themes, and genres.· 📊 Marketability AssessmentAccording to Statista, the annual revenue of the film industry is close to 77 billion USD. To keep up with the competition, it is crucial to have a solid marketing campaign that ensures the success of each film. Part of my responsibilities as a development coordinator include arranging focus groups and creative brainstorming sessions that set the foundation for the potential marketing campaign that will be launched once a determined film is ready to be released. The skills I aquired:Each role has brought its unique set of challenges. Being a development coordinator has allowed me to work on my managerial skills, handling and updating large databases and keeping track of multiple projects that are being developed simultaneously. -

This new position came with new challenges and new opportunities to keep learning new skills while continuing to refine my abilities as a script analyst and reader. Here are some of my responsibilities:·📝 Script evaluation, quality control and Marketability AssessmentContinuing with my duties as a script analyst and reader, I carried on creating coverages to assess the different components of nearly 800 scripts. ·📑 Script ConsultantAs a development associate it was my responsibility to get in touch with the writers of the scripts that were shortlisted as potential Wave Films projects. To follow a writer’s room approach, me and Wave Films’ head director and producer Jerry Ködding collaborated closely with multiple writers to help them improve their screenplay, ensuring a balance between creativity and marketability. This required research skills that allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of various cultures, themes, and genres.·🗂️ Administrative Assisted in the creation and refinement of project pitch decks, contributing to successful presentations that attracted the attention of financers and distributors such as Amazon Prime Philippines. In addition, I was also able to collaborate with the social media team to create posts that increased our Instagram and Facebook presence.The skills I acquired:Getting into the process of development allowed me to experience the process of what goes beyond the script. Understanding what was expected of a script to be able to compete with its comps allowed me to get into the fundamentals of narrative design: How can we turn this script into a fully emotional experience for the audience? In addition, I was able to refine my effective communication skills, get an understanding of the principles of graphic design. More importantly, I got the privilege of collaborating with incredibly talented creatives. -
Film Development InternWave Films Mar 2021 - Sep 2021SingaporeMy journey in the film industry began as a Development Intern at Wave Films – a Singapore-based production company with operations all over Southeast Asia. A company as acclaimed as Wave Films receives numerous script submissions on a regular basis, but not all of them align with the organization’s vision. My role as an intern included -but was not limited to- the work of a script reader and analyst. Being a script reader and analyst meant being a gatekeeper for Wave Films. My script coverages included an assessment of the project’s marketability and potential to attract distributors and financiers. The skills I acquired:Being surrounded by so many stories honed my skills in understanding the craft of storytelling, character development, narrative structure, and marketability potential. In addition, I was also able to get experience working with a multicultural team located all over the world, which enriched my professional journey and provided me with some of the practical skills needed for success in this fascinating field. -
Marketing InternshipTecnológico De Monterrey Mar 2020 - Dec 2021MexicoTec de Monterrey is one of the most prestigious universities in Latin America; it has 30 campuses across Mexico and has been internationally recognized by organizations such as the QS World University Rankings. It also provided valuable experience as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
