Engineering development program involving one year rotations in Non-Destructive Testing, Biomedical Image Analysis, and Product Management Science.Experiences:- CT scatter reduction algorithm development- Automated defect recognition of turbine blade CT images- Inspection of new advanced casting process using CT and CMM- Automated cell segmentation and classification of multi-plexed fluorescence images, supporting several research projects in the area of neuro-pathology.- 3D Ultrasound image analysis of the eye for the purpose of measuring globe flatness in astronauts.- Segmentation and classification of anatomy in CT scout images using Deep Learning architectures.- Modeling healthcare and manufacturing ecosystems to better understand which technical levers are the most impactful for product differentiation.

- Improved a CT image segmentation process and developed several user interfaces allowing for quick and intuitive segmentation of brain CT scans.- Performed volumetric analysis on CT images of the brain taken in Uganda as part of an NIH phase III surgical trial investigating outcomes of infants with hydrocephalus. Study results were published in the New England Journal of Medicine.- Traveled to Uganda in March 2013 to better establish project procedures and train people on how to use the image segmentation program.

- Investigated the potential mechanical advantage provided by non-conforming joints in the human body, specifically the knee. - Created static models of kinematic linkages in Matlab and used optimization routines to solve for forces across those linkages. Demonstrated force savings for a range of joint conformities using these simple linkages.

Initiated development of an automated bioreactor system for use in perfusing endothelial cells through porcine kidneys. The kidneys were first decellularized and cells were perfused through the remaining extracellular matrix with the ultimate goal of recellularizing the porcine kidney.

- Performed testing of fiber optic cables in a fiber optic research and development facility. - Completed several individual projects including construction of an entrance to a class 10,000 clean room, and renovation of a contrahelical server machine used to bind Kevlar around fiber optic cables.- Individual projects provided experience in design, materials acquisition, time management, and use of a machine shop. Primarily worked with a milling machine and lathe within the machine shop.
