Joined as a new devops engineer for the company. The company wasopening this new role since they never had an infrastructure anddevops engineer in house. In this role I quickly jumped to own theenvironment. in short time I was able totake ownership of their Heroku environment, managing releases, buildswith circleci, database upgrades and just make the environment and teammore efficient.I worked with a dedicated team of developers to upgrade our Rails apps, build new environments, test performance and fix existing bottlenecks and also migrated their databases to AWS Aurora. I am working on interesting projects like an AWS migration to be able to utilize Kubernetes on EKS.

Frank was recently acquired by JP Morgan Chase and I am now part of the JP Morgan family. My role as a DevOps engineer will continue here and there are many interesting projects already in place and future ones coming up soon. I am excited about these new opportunities and still help our users obtain the financial aid they need.

I have joined Frank to lead their DevOps efforts and I am excited to be making a difference in students lives. Frank helps students apply for Financial Aid. I am passionate about startups and I am lucky to be working as a DevOps engineer here at The Skimm. The tech team is one of the best and I've been tasked with taking over the AWS environment. A little update after 2 1/2 months, I worked with the tech team to migrate from an existing VPC and Elastic Beanstalk environment that had been managed manually to a new configuration using Ansible and automated Elastic Beanstalk environments. I architected the layout of the VPC and its configuration with Ansible, Created NAT gateways and setup the proper routes with automation, also architected the configuration of elastic cache instances in a more automated way and same for RDS instances. We successfully migrated the environment with little downtime and now everything is organized and using better application names for all of our database, cache instances and elastic beanstalk environments. Very excited to be working @theSkimm and looking forward to more exciting projects. this fall we also moved all local development using docker containers. Any new developer can easily setup their dev environment using Docker. All of our applications have their proper Docker files and docker-compose to spin up all of our major applications locally. I am excited about my new role here at Weight Watchers. Working with a great team of DevOps engineers working in exciting projects that include. Docker, Vagrant, Rackspace + AWS, Ansible and other Open Source and Internal projects. I will be updating my profile with my progress :) Working on a big Cloud Migration. Lots of interesting work in VPC creation. Subnetting, NAT traffic routing and provisioning with Ansible. Also working with Docker and CoreOS for microservices. Returned to Jirafe to help them scale their environment for a large on-boarding of new customers and to help them scale their existing infrastructure and improved on existing application deployment workflow. Major achievements: • Expanded Kafka Cluster with added storage and increased amount of instances.• Scaled our existing Cloudera Hadoop cluster by adding more instance and adding more space to our HDFS storage.• Planned and tested a potential upgrade of Hadoop Cloudera CDH4 to CDH5• Migrated existing MySQL servers and databases to new updated instances to allow for better performance and enhanced monitoring.• Added automated backups for a Terabyte MySQL instance with replication and Percona’s xtrabackup.• Scaled our web API and reporting API instances using Ansible to increase our capacity and support more customers. • Added Sentry to track application exceptions which has been very useful to debug performance and application errors.• Wrote Ansible scripts to provision our stack on a developer’s machine to help them get a live environment in their workstations. • Increased monitoring and visibility by introducing NewRelic, Sentry to monitor our stack in real time. • Setup Pager Duty for oncall rotation between me and the developers. • Scaled our environment to support thousands of new customers before the 2014 black Friday holiday with NO detriment to our existing users. • Wrote Ansible and Capistrano Scripts for deployments.• Researched Docker and presented proof of concepts to see if we could utilize Docker in our workflow.

My Role at Lulu involved working with developers to support application deployment, infrastructure environment configurations using ansible, supporting AWS autoscaling, monitoring traffic. One of the philosophies here on the DevOps team is automate everything. We always try to improve our process and not afraid to try new ideas. Had a chance to work with some clever and amazing AWS autoscaling configurations that allowed the company to expand cluster size based on load balancer traffic and node cpu and memory utilization. Great team at Lulu Technologies used: AnsibleAWS Autoscaling, AWS ELB, Route 53, Elastic search, DynamoDB etc.

I am Currently working at Jirafe as a DevOps cloud engineer. I manage our current infrastructure and provision our environment with Ansible responsible for the build and operation of our stack of applications running on Mongodb, Kafka, Nginx, Hadoop, Hive, MapReduce, Flume, Java, Python Django. Migrated infrastructure from AWS to Rackspace. Setup Hadoop Cluster running on Cloudera, configured master slave replication for our MySQL backend. I like monitoring our environment with New Relic, currently tracking performance of Load Balancers, MongoDB cluster and NGINX instances using New Relic.

Work involved debugging issues with Apache, Resin server, Oracle instances, Java, additional support for deployments to application servers, performance tuning, root cause analysis.I took part of the migration of our legacy environment to a new fully puppetized environment running in a private cloud. Collaborated with a team of DevOps engineers with the migration of many web properties including www.wired.com, www.allure.com, www.glamour.com and many other Conde Nast properties.Additional duties included development of puppet code, debugging performance issues, provided caching software solutions using varnish, monitoring, Solr migration, etc.
