The Facilities Division of the Public Transit Department is responsible for service planning and the programming, planning, design, construction and maintenance of all passenger and operating facilities and bus stops/amenities.Public Transit Management Managed the Planning Section staff within the Facilities Division charged with both service planning (48 routes and 20 million annual miles of service) and facility development for the 13th largest transit system in the United States. Led major reporting, planning, design and construction tasks associated with the $64 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Program. Seven transit projects totaling $30 million were implemented in the City of Phoenix with an emphasis on sustainability in a consolidated timeframe. Built and strengthened partnerships with national, state and local agencies through the acquisition of land and the development of freeway features that improve transit. Six park-and-rides in major freeway corridors each possess a series of unique transit priority features that play a primary role in the strong RAPID (bus rapid transit) system ridership of 1 million annual passengers. Team-Leader during the department’s strongest time of expansion when three new facilities opened and five others were upgraded to service the major transit system expansion in 2003. During this time, simultaneously managed the Ed Pastor Transit Center, Bell Road/SR-51and Shea Boulevard/SR-51 park-and-rides through all phases of development, totaling $20 million.
