These algorithms enable the efficient and high-resolution solutions of PDEs by automatically allocating computational resources in regions of the domain where they are most needed.• Developed high-resolution solvers for the solution of Poisson-Nernst-Planck and Poisson-Boltzmann equations with applications to electrochemical systems (eg batteries or supercapacitors) and biomolecular calculations (eg electrostatic interactions of proteins)
