About Nazmul Alam

I am Md. Nazmul Alam, a civil engineer and educator with over a decade of experience in structural engineering and academia. Currently, I serve as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Asia Pacific, where I focus on advancing engineering education and conducting research in earthquake engineering and sustainable practices.I am pursuing a PhD in Structural Engineering at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), specializing in seismic response evaluation for high-rise structures and soil-structure interaction. I hold a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) from BUET and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Asia Pacific, where I received the Chancellor’s Gold Medal for academic excellence.As a registered Professional Engineer (PEng) and a Certified Structural Engineer (SEng) through the RAJUK Urban Resilience Program, I actively engage in professional development as a Fellow Member of The Institution of Engineers Bangladesh.In my teaching role, I instruct courses like Engineering Mechanics and Structural Engineering, supervise thesis projects, and promote outcome-based education (OBE) to enhance student learning. Additionally, I coordinate extracurricular activities such as the UAP CE Math Club.I also work as a Lead Structural Engineer at Advanced Infrastructure Management (AIM), specializing in reinforced concrete and steel structures. My research interests include nonlinear finite element analysis and performance-based earthquake engineering.I am committed to social welfare, participating in initiatives such as distributing winter clothing to underprivileged communities and exploring low-cost housing solutions. With a solid academic foundation and a dedication to teaching and community service, I aim to make significant contributions to civil and structural engineering.
