Section Head Substation Maintenance
Jubail Saudi Arabia
Responsible for maintenance of 65 substations of voltage levels of up to 380kV and 5 power plants of 4000 MVA, My major responsibilities included:• Supervising preventive, corrective and predicted maintenance on power transformers, on-load tap changers, replacing the busing, attending to major oil leaks, removing of transformer oil, vacuum drying, oil treatment and filling, degassing, and regeneration of transformer oil, and evaluating oil test results.• Performing and evaluating electrical tests on transformer for winding insulation resistance and polarization index, winding resistance, excitation current, insulation power factor, core insulation resistance, core balance test, turn ratio, percentage impedance, zero sequence impedance, sweep frequency response analysis, dielectric frequency response analysis, partial discharge and thermo vision scanning using state of the art test equipment. Testing of mechanical protection, testing of alarms, and functional trip test.• Participated in on line monitoring of DGA and partial discharge measurement and condition assessment and life assessment of transformers. • Participated in replacing failed power transformers. • Performed the preventive, corrective and predicted maintenance on GIS, outdoor SF6 and bulk oil circuit breakers. Testing the SF6 gas for leak, dew point, purity, presence of SO2 and other contaminations. Timing and contact resistance test for circuit breakers disconnects and ground switches. Testing of alarms and interlocks, removing and filling the SF6, vacuum breakers and other compartment by SF6 gas cart. Testing the Partial discharge in the GIS.• Performing preventive and corrective maintenance of protection relays of transformers, bus bars, lines, breakers and distribution feeders. Testing of current and voltage transformers for polarity, ratio, knee point, insulation resistance, winding resistance, and primary/secondary current injection. • Prepared reports of Major system problems.
