Joined as the division’s first data management employee, and established the data management standards as users increased from 50 to 1,100, data increased from 8TB to 92TB, servers increased from 10 to 275, and data centers grew from 0 to 2. Ensured that all data is consistent, safe, and easily retrievable for world-class healthcare and medical research. Met or beat all budgets, and saved $2M to $12M every year. Increased the number of applications from 3 to >25, including Tableau, Confluence, Power BI, Clarity Console Server, Compass, Attunity, Data Brick, Azure, Logic Monitor, Idera, MS Office 360, Infobust, Caboodle, SlicerDicer, Calibra, and others. Managed the world’s largest implementation of Epic, and reduced its operating costs by 5% by providing >50 ideas to enhance the software, including how to upgrade (reduced the time from 20 hours to <3 hours), how to run ETL, creating a table for each job, and modifying columns. Enabled UCLA to be the first Epic customer to work with real-time data and integrate the software with Tableau. Decreased time to run ETL from 6–8 hours to <2 hours, and reduced time to run Caboodle from 12 hours to <4 hours by automating processes, adding features, performance tuning, and continuous monitoring. Built out dashboards that provided critical health data for the county and the U.S., including daily Led the migration of infrastructure, databases, Epic, and data to the cloud (Azure). Currently migrating it to AWS. Saved $12M in one year by reducing licensing and storage costs after databases were in silos. Designed and built an enterprise database that consolidated all functions, and scaled it. Established 24x7 user support, and ensured that users at all levels of computer literacy could easily work with data. Helped other Epic customers (including other major universities) with the software. Worked as a point of contact when they called for help.
