CurrentTeaching has always been my passion, leading me to join UET, Peshawar, after completing my Master’s in Structural Engineering in 1996. I have been a regular faculty member since 2000, teaching various civil engineering courses.I teach “Engineering Mechanics” and “Introduction to Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering” to undergraduate students. To postgraduate students, I offer “Applications of Structural Dynamics to Earthquake Engineering” and “Behavior of Concrete Structures.”“Applications of Structural Dynamics to Earthquake Engineering” is designed for practicing engineers to understand intermediate and advanced topics in Earthquake Engineering without mastering the concepts of Structural Dynamics. Currently, students practicing as structural engineers need to study 3-4 postgraduate courses to grasp these concepts.“Behavior of Concrete Structures” is designed to provide insight into the mechanics of reinforced concrete elements. Lack of such understanding often restricts students from thinking beyond the logic on which codes of practice for reinforced concrete design are based. Over time, I realized that even postgraduate students who have studied Advanced Concrete Design heavily rely on clauses and minute sub-clauses of the ACI code and struggle when the ACI or any other code is silent. For instance, most of these students even struggle to design a rectangular beam with a duct passing through the compression zone or design of hollow rectangular columns etc
