A community initiative to support the youth and help with the transition to adulthood. The group intends to support the youth in many walks of life, ranging from simply providing drop in sessions to supporting them in studies. Our vision is to help promote good etiquette's, behaviors and many life skills.My main role here is to create and undergo projects and ensuring that the legal checks are carried out. My motivation for doing this role was to help and develop the youth in the local area. Certain project which i have carried out are the PHAT project (creative activity about healthy living), monopoly project (discuss poverty, social status, history of Britain, etc.). I have taken this voluntary role as means of giving what I can to the community. I believe by doing this the youth will have better opportunities in life and know where to go for support. I am also the secretary of he group dealing with meetings and reports. Also I have been involved in liaising with the Rochdale council and members of the youth service to discuss strategies of improving our youth work and projects. Other groups I have worked with are; BASA, Rochdale youth council, Rochdale outreach team, drugs awareness and RCT.

The group7designs company employed me on a contract work basis. I was assigned to three projects during my time for the company. For each contract project I had to liaise with clients and develop the requirements of the project. I was assigned to online application development projects and in house company applications. To develop these projects a revolutionary prototyping methodology carried out, hence liaising with the clients was critical to the project. The programming languages used during my experiences at group7Design were .net, C#, PHP along with HTML, CSS and Ajax. Carrying out these projects developed my project skills vastly. My ability to manage time and present information was developed significantly.

I have worked at ShamTech during weekends. I have had a keen interest in web developing and chose to work for this company to broaden my skills and experiences in the internet commercialisation and learn new techniques in providing companies with a new edge to grow through the use of the growing internet. Here I had worked with many companies and was given tasks to develop web sites and applications as well as liaise with clienteles to derive business solutions using the world wide web. I believe my upmost benefit from working within ShamTech was the development of my consultancy skills such as discussing with clients possibilities and pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of the possibilities and developing my skills on troubleshooting, PHP, C#, .net and design skills.

I had worked full time over four weeks of the summer holidays as voluntary work. I chose to work here to enhance my abilities in computing and also learn about the working environment of computing. Here I had to analyse existing systems provided by customers/businesses identify areas of improvement needed and the qualitative and quantitative aspects of a proposed system and also carried out a lot of troubleshooting. Here I had increased my knowledge on the process of the development of a system, I believe I had reached my goal whilst working here, i.e. I had now learnt more about the working environment.
