In my limited experience, I was fortunate to be associated at the early stage of my career in the 3 main facets of physiotherapy practice, viz. Musculo skeletal, ortho and neuro departments in a super speciality hospital in India. This exposure gave me a detailed understanding of the practice and along with my curiosity in understanding human anatomy helped me widened my horizon on the field I am passionate about. During my work experience, I had a hands-on practice in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy (Out-patient department, In-patient wards, Sports injuries, Hand rehabilitation, Electro- diagnosis), Cardio-respiratory physiotherapy (Medicine, Surgery wards, Intensive care units and pulmonary rehabilitation), neurology and neurosurgery rehabilitation Community physiotherapy (Geriatric and Paediatric setups), Obstetrics and Gynaecology physiotherapy (Neo-natal, pre-natal and postnatal wards).I strive to seek information to update my knowledge on the skills I practice. This was the key driver in me pursuing CPDs. Over the past 3 years, I had continually sought advice, training and classroom sessions in keeping myself abreast with the best practices. These have helped me in diagnosing the patient’s condition better and have helped me in designing treatment procedures for rehabilitation. The CPD s I have attended includes neurodynamic solution, course on advanced fitness and sports training, course on basic life support/first response provider course, workshops on manual therapy, level 1 dynamic taping, workshop on resent advanced physiotherapy management in lymphedema.The healthcare system in the UK is at par excellence to any in the world. The current practices are documented and followed every where in the world. I would not want to miss the opportunity to practice in an advanced health system, which can hone my skills to greater level. Hence, I enrolled into the Master’s program to get an academic understanding on the best practices, governance and regulations in the UK healthcare system, which will help me in establishing my credentials when I commence my practice in the UK.The research module during my first semester at the Coventry University opened me to the in-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices and advancements in physiotherapy treatments in the UK.
