• Responsible for carrying out the synthesis of oligonucleotides including DNA, RNA, and modified RNAs such as 2’-O-MOE, 2’-O-Methyl, locked nucleic acid (LNA), and 2’-Fluoro RNAs.• Carry out purification of oligonucleotides by HPLC using Ion-Exchange/Reverse phase techniques and their analysis utilizing HPLC, UV/VIS, pH meter, MALDI-TOF and Karl Fischer.• Examine and interpret data sets to prepare specification sheets for each oligonucleotide sequence.• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant literature and carry out research projects to develop the new synthetic methodology.• Work towards introducing the new phosphoramidite product range and their synthetic methodologies as needed and liaise with other organizations for contract manufacturing.• Responsible to train newly recruited synthetic chemists to carry out the synthesis and characterization of oligonucleotides in line with company standards. • Draft and maintain SOPs and work closely with QA Manager to improve processes and workflows aimed at achieving ISO certification.• Assist in the setup of a batch record system and CAPA system for GLP.• Manage quality control process, review batch records, lab reports, and COAs, and investigations of out-of-specification results and complaints as per QMS.• Carry out planned/preventive maintenance of the laboratory equipment such as oligonucleotide synthesizers, MALDI spectrometer, UV plate reader, lyophilizer, Karl Fischer Coulometer, and water filtration unit (Milli Q).• Consult with and provide advice to other staff in the company to provide the best service to the customers of SynGenis.• Work with the Operations Officer and carry out COGS (Cost of Goods) calculations.• Provide consultation to the customers for the design and modifications of oligonucleotides as per their requirements.

Thesis Title: Synthesis of novel inhibitors of heparan sulfate-binding proteins.• Handled a project focused on the synthesis, characterisation, and biological evaluation of a carbohydrate based clinical anticancer agent “Pixatimod" and it's novel analogues. • Synthesised and characterised the compounds using techniques such as chromatography (HPLC, TLC, Column), rotary evaporator, NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and IR spectroscopy.• Performed molecular modelling/dynamics simulations to explore the ligand-protein interactions using high-performance computing (HPC).• Published four first-author and one co-authored research article, one first-author book chapter, two co-authored pre-prints, and one further manuscript is in preparation.

Worked as a tutor in an undergraduate chemistry course to train chemistry and chemical engineering students.

• Responsible for a project focused on the design and synthesis of fluorescence probes for bioimaging.• Project involved the synthesis of fluorescently labelled peptides using solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) technique, purification using HPLC, and freeze-drying the product using lyophilizer.• Co-authored a publication titled “A proximity-induced covalent fluorescent probe for the selective detection of Bromodomain enzyme”.

• Involved in several projects over two years based on the synthesis of small molecule therapeutics.• Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the synthetic route for the synthesis of organometallic and heterocyclic compounds. • Published two first author and three co-authored research articles in the field of Bioorganic and Medicinal chemistry.
