A determined, adaptable and highly motivated materials engineer, I started my career working on major oil and gas projects before transitioning to the construction industry where I have worked on construction and composite materials. My PhD focused on research and development to design concrete for 3D printing to meet Australian/International Building Codes, and improve durability, whilst providing appropriate rheological properties for 3D printing processes. After completing this research, I have been engaged by the Department of Infrastructure Engineering, University of Melbourne to undertake industry-led research projects as a research fellow, to develop sustainable and compliant building products using recycled waste products.I bring the demonstrated ability to analyse and assess materials and solutions from both a technical and commercial perspective, plan and coordinate projects, manage diverse stakeholder relationships, support and manage procurement processes and deliver high-quality outcomes. My work is driven by a passion for developing and implementing outcomes that improve material performance and durability and sustainability. Key skills:• Materials Engineering & Material Characterisation: Concrete Technology, Composite Materials & Metallurgy• Research, Analysis & Product R&D: Experimentation, Lab & Field Testing, Data Collection & Data Analysis• Corrosion Assessment & Protection & Durability Engineering• Specification Development & Datasheet Preparation• Reporting, Publishing & Presentations• WHS & QATechnical skills:X-Ray Characterisation (XRD, XRF), XRD Analysis (DiffracEVA, X'Pert), Electron Microscopy (SEM, TEM), Surface Area and Porosity Analysis (Nitrogen Adsorption-Desorption, BET, BJH), Thermogravimetry Analysis (TGA/DTG), Isothermal Calorimetry, Induced Coupled Mass and Optical Emission (ICP-MS & ICP-OES) Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy (IR/FTIR) & ASNT Certified Inspector (VT, UT, RT)Australian and International standards including AS/NZS, ASTM, ASME, NACE, API, BS, DIN and ISO.

Post-Doc Research FellowUniversity Of Melbourne Jan 2023 - PresentParkville, Victoria, Australia -
Researcher Phd CandidateUniversity Of Melbourne Apr 2018 - Jun 2024Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaI completed my PhD research on 3D printing and have subsequently worked on industry-led R&D projects to innovate engineering and sustainability, through the use of waste products. -
Research AssociateUniversity Of Melbourne Feb 2020 - Dec 2023Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaI worked in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering, focused on engineering sustainable infrastructure that considers the natural environment, as well as the economy.During my PhD, I have been working on two industry-led, collaborative projects to research and design and commercialise sustainable building products that meet Australian standards, by recycling waste materials. My role was broad and involved research and literature/patent reviews, designing materials and products, conducting experiments, and designing and completing testing. I analysed test data to assess the physical and mechanical properties of materials and durability performance (abrasion, corrosion & shrinkage etc) and also assessed opportunities to optimise costs to support product commercialisation. I also mentored and coordinated postgraduate students.Key projects:Design, development and commercialisation of compliant, sustainable, resilient and cost-efficient brick and paver masonry units using construction and demolition waste. A CRC (Cooperative Research Centre) project funded by industry partners. For this R&D project, I have also specified, procured and commissioned a hydraulic press and designed engineered moulds for fabrication processes.Design and development of a cost-effective and sustainable recycling process to use EPS/PIR insulation panels' waste generated in production processes. A CRC (Cooperative Research Centre) project, funded by industry partners. This project diversified my experience in composite materials and included developing an environmentally sound process to recover the product and convert it back into its raw form. -
Phd CandidateUniversity Of Melbourne Apr 2018 - Aug 2022AustraliaMy research was focused on extrusion-based, concrete 3D printing using both raw materials and recycled aggregate waste, to improve product strength, durability, comply with Australian standards, reduce shrinkage and improve sustainability. To conduct this research, I designed, manufactured and operated a Lab-Scale concrete 3D printer and designed a novel cement-based and geopolymer-based and fully waste-based concrete for use in 3D printing construction.Materials were tested to investigate the effect of different climatic conditions (i.e., Temperature and Relative Humidity) on microstructure development, mechanical and durability performance of concrete printed elements. -
Piping Material EngineerChagalesh Aug 2015 - Mar 2018Tehran Province, IranI was responsible for specifying piping for Oil and Gas projects and supporting the procurement of materials to meet specific project requirements. Analysing project requirements and specification documents, I calculated piping thickness, materials, measurements, welding and coatings to develop new refineries and processing equipment. Working collaboratively with the procurement team, I prepared take-offs and BOQs for procurement and completed a technical analysis of tender responses.Regularly specialised engineering solutions were required, and I met with vendors to source these. To ensure the technical integrity of vendor products, I reviewed vendor FATs and SATs to ensure compliance with specifications and codes and assisted NDT inspectors with non-destructive inspection activities. I also attended kick-off meetings or clarification discussions as a technical materials expert.
