I have been working on a full JEE6 Tech Stack that uses JBoss, Icefaces, Hibernate, MyBatis, MySQL, Apache, Git, and Ant. Working in an Agile environment with global teams. I have worked from the UI to the billing layer, to the Application Server layer, and to the database. I have written extensions and fixed many bugs. I have implemented a Stormpath integration using JaaS and SAML integration with Okta. I have documented many processes and procedures.

Working with Java in a partial source environment: Designed an implementation and created a proposal for supporting shipping containers for all types of transfers in ORSIM. The solution was based on SIM being connected to Manhattan, RMS, RIB, ReSA, ORPOS, and RSL. A key designed goal was to reduce SIM upgrade costs. In ORPOS, modified tours to implement a new customer reward/survey feature. This feature uses a REST interface that uses either an async or blocked communication implementation. Modified the receipt blueprints to support addition printing needs and updated the RTLog with survey information.Implemented additional ORPOS features to support item inquiry, Canadian tax exemption, and receipt printing in English and French.

I worked with Java, Maven, and Qwicap for the IAM team fixing bugs on the Self Help web application. Qwicap is a custom web framework.Created Linux BASH and PHP scripts to interact with LDAP and MySQL to identify prior employees of the Urchin System. Created a BASH script to identify and remove really old content to free up disk space for Urchin.Identified Urchin requirements for its replacement. Implemented and evaluated Splunk as a replacement for Urchin.

Working with Java in an Engineering setting. Work includes fixing bugs and implementing new features using Java, Swing, JFreeChart, Tomcat, JSPs, RMI, Java Web Start, Linux, and Wireshark.Streamlined, automated and improved the developer build process for our multi-project development environment. The goal was to successfully deploy a fresh build to the NTOs. Managed project to successfully implement IPv6 in an embedded Linux environment on the administration interface. Coordinated with hardware and software team members to ensure implementation. Created new supporting JAVA classes and updated existing objects with support for IPV4 only, IPv6 only or mixed mode stack. Enhanced automation testing to support AFM and QSFP+ cards. Created Spirent packets to test GTP and MPLS stripping on ingress and egress.

Led project to convert and integrate legacy content with PHP web applications to Drupal. https://www.tsl.state.tx.us/Developed modules (PHP/mySQL/jQuery) and configured Drupal to support departmental web editors. Prepared the configuration for MySQL, PHP, Apache web server and Linux guest sessions.Created Drupal themes (web GUI) that support Firefox, Safari, Chrome, IE, and Opera. The theme hard-codes 508 compliance for the framework.Managed the integration of 6K+ Office documents, 360K+ images and 6K+ HTML pages containing over 500K+ hyperlinks.Integrated Drupal with Active Directory on Intranet server. Moved the MySQL database from an Intranet server, to a staging server, to the final production server.Designed and delivered Drupal training, including security, to web editors, system admins, and developers. Designed and presented a MySQL class.Ported legacy applications to Drupal. Converted from RICO AJAX processing to jQuery AJAX processing. Created the SQL queries, combined with PHP, to retrieve data based on status, dates, quarters, and created snapshots.

I worked for Kforce on a short assignment with Bridge360 in Austin - http://www.bridge360.com/. At Bridge360, I worked on a short project for Virilion using PHP. My main role was to complete and deploy the new search form. http://www.pparx.org/gethelp My tasks were:1. In a short period of time, I learned Drupal. Drupal is a PHP based CMS. 2. I fixed numerous PHP bugs for the new form that was going into Production. 3. Add counts to all form pages. 4. I added Spanish translations and images to the site.5. I added navigational support for various languages within the PHP template files. I verified all JavaScript and PHP flows from start to finish for the form.6. Update CSS to support Spanish images and formatting of longer text for IE6, IE8, and Firefox.7. I replaced Hitbox with Google Analytics supported for over 50 web sites support by Virilion.8. I added statistical counting, using PHP, to the search form. Using the form flows, I added ‘states’ to the PHP Session. When the states where reaches, the master database in the DB chain was updated.I can't say enough good things about Bridge360. I thank them for the opportunity they gave me. Designed and implemented an automated process to set up product demonstrations for the Oracle and Oracle Retail stack, reducing the set up cycle time to 15 minutes and allowing the sales team to increase product demonstrations from 20 to over 240 per year worldwide. Designed and implemented the base guest sessions (Linux, DB, OAS) and Stores (ORPOS, ORSIM) deployments for the cloud. Designed Swing based tool to update the price analytic applications databases using JDeveloper and JDBC replacing an error prone manual spreadsheet process resulting in the elimination of 2 days of non-value added work per sales person. The tool was extensible and was applied to other applications.Designed the specification for Release 13 of the Oracle Retail Suite demonstration environment.Provided Tier 3 support for Oracle stack. Optimized demonstration environment for the entire Oracle and Oracle Retail stack. Supported In Store Operations (ISO) sales opportunities including trade-shows (requirements, planning, build out, shipping, set up, presentation, and tear down).

Managed In Store Operations (ISO). Led project to move ISO lab from Houston to Minneapolis, MN.Provided sales support for all ISO sales calls.Designed and implemented Standing Order functionality in Store Inventory Management (SIM) for sales opportunity resulting in a sale to Starbucks. This involved the creation of database tables, development of an RMI server to connect to the database, an RMI client to call the RMI server, the production of Swing GUI (Chelsea Applets), and the insertion of the applets into the GUI framework. Deployed IBM’s IRES V1 and V2 to automate remote POS software installation eliminating costly manual on-site installation.

Designed and implemented a Java based web application, a new front end, to the Point of Sale (POS) software application based on the Model View Controller (MVC), command and factory design patterns for Symbol hand held unit with a magnetic stripe reader, printer and bar-code scanner. The web application uses JSPs and Servlets and runs on any servlet container including Tomcat.Designed mapping tool to translate internal thermal printer codes into different multi-national character sets.Installed Linux and configured software for customer installations, customer training, support, trade shows and sales. Design the JPOS configuration for all systems. This allows Java to talk with thermal printers, cash-drawers, customer line-display, scanners, and magnetic-stripe readers.

I traveled the United States teaching programming languages to software developers of Fortune 500 companies including IBM, Chemical Abstract Service, West Law, and Fed-Ex to name a few. The classes I taught were: Introduction to Java, Advanced Java, Enterprise JavaBeans, JSPs, Servlets, CORBA Architecture and Programming using Java, XML Programming, and OOAD and UML.Some of these classes had special or different training materials. That means that I had to prepare to present the subject matter according to that book, present the material, work their exercises, resolve student errors, fix exercise bugs, and provide missing materials. Then, I had to prepare for the next class. My classes spanned a week. I would fly out on Sunday to begin teaching a class that went from Monday through Friday. I would fly back home on Friday. I normally presented three classes per month.Worth mentioning is my Advanced Java Class. In my exercises, I would add another exercise of my own design. The students would learn how to create a distributed multi-platform environment. First the students learned to use JDBC, RMI, and Servlets. Then, we would combine the exercises. Using Tomcat, the students created a Servlet that made an RMI-call. Within the Servlet, we would change the stub to the RMI server. This would change out the implementation to another student's machine. The RMI server would then use JDBC to access a Microsoft Access or Oracle database. With JDBC, we would change the connection information to connect to another student's machine. Using a browser, we would connect to the Servlet running on Tomcat. This is a four-tier distributed programming model. We could of easily extended this by using the multi-threaded Server Socket and UDP exercises.
