• Worked on Human Computer Interaction research team trying to understand how to define expertise in relation to working in 3D environments in the context of both VR/AR and 3D data segmentation. • Worked to understand the cognitive and perceptual basis of how experts segment, or extract 3D shapes from volumetric data, such as electron tomography, MRI or CT imaging, and its implication on manual and assisted (Machine Learning algorithmic) segmentation software.• Worked to test the impact of domain and technology experience on presence in Virtual Reality. • Our team utilized mixed methods and was an interdisciplinary team (engineering, computer science, psychology, anthropology, etc) across all projects.• See more about xrez here: http://www.xrezlab.com/

• Designed and conducted research to understand how agricultural markets were affected by the Ebola epidemic and subsequent regulation on physical movement by local governments.• Spent 3+ months living in the “field” in Rural Sierra Leone without running water or power while conducting short-term ethnography, participant observation, interviews, and focus groups.• Contributed to the Food Security Working Group made up of relevant multilateral and NGOs.• My research informed the design of an early warning system (EWS) to know when places in the country were experiencing some sort of drastic change in their food system.

• This research led to the creation of a digital health tool which provided EMTs an objective way to identify warning signs of abuse or neglect that require referral to Adult Protective Services in order to increase the detection rate of elder abuse. • Research led to the development of a tool called DETECT (Detection of Elder Abuse Through Emergency Care Technicians) for MedStar Mobile Healthcare's EMT's.• This project was funded by an NIJ R21 grant and was done in collaboration with partners in the Elder Abuse Task Force of the Fort Worth Safe Communities Coalition, along with MedStar, and Texas Adult Protective Services.
