Registered Nurse
Current• Engage patients in quality outpatient education on a variety of topics, including but not limited to: tobacco cessation, prenatal education in each trimester, self-care in Diabetes, anticoagulation program initiation, and medication administration via multiple routes• Assist patients with setting and reaching health and wellness goals through motivational interviewing• Arrange preventative and chronic care management for patients, including but not limited to: pre-visit lab work, emergency room follow up visits, and Transitional Care Management calls• Titrate medications for Diabetes and Hypertension using standing orders and algorithms • Perform telephone triage for patients of all ages, including pediatric, obstetric, and geriatric patients, using evidence-based triage protocols• Perform non-stress tests and initiate glucose tolerance tests in obstetric patients• Administer medications and immunizations via oral and intramuscular routes for pediatric, adult, obstetric, and geriatric patients• Coordinate patient care by contacting and working with many disciplines and departments, both within and outside of Gundersen Health System• Document patient care, telephone calls, and medication administration electronically using Epic• Served as an interim Charge Nurse for approximately 3 months; spear-headed a project to arrange special training for colleagues to start administering Vivitrol injections in the department• Served as a member of the Nurse Professional Excellence Council from July 2017 to December of 2018 until the council was dissolved; planned and coordinated the 2018 Nurse Excellence Awards, involved in a gap analysis and crosswalk study of Gundersen Health System versus Magnet Hospital standards
