Mona Khan Email and Phone Number
I nurture people and organizations to get real about equity; this means, for example:✅Getting brave and specific about shifting power with members of a philanthropic network✅Exploring anti-racist identity in mind-body-spirit with the staff of a non-profit✅Inviting a BIPOC University Administrator to name their terms for co-conspiracy for justice✅Co-creating community and action with members of a Liberation Learning Community✅Celebrating with an LGBTQ+ client as they self-define their leadership narrativeAT THE COREAt the core, I co-create spaces of community & co-conspiracy for equity, belonging and transformation; where folx can build trust, be present in their full human, and amplify the wisdom across multiple perspectives. I invite clients to connect to their stories; their mind-body-spirit wisdom; and their joy.SELF-DEFINITIONI identify as cis-female, GenX, culturally Muslim, Desi (South Asian), & a 'Third Culture Kid'; a carrier of economic, heterosexual, and skin color privilege. My family holds intergenerational trauma and the legacy of Partition (India) in its history; holding what makes me vulnerable and what resources me to persist and be powerful. The words of Audre Lorde and Elandria “E” Williams render me whole and connect me to my joy and purpose. My father says I was born with an instant protest kit. I find freedom, solace, and joy in multiple ways of knowing, being, and doing. I look at dessert first on the menu. A ‘third culture kid’, my husband cooks thoran (Kerala stiry fry) one night and a sardine and chickpea salad the next & my children have Muslim, Hindu and Christian names. Home is wherever they are.RESUMEI started out working on women’s health in countries such as Cambodia, Tajikistan, and Kenya. Since then, I have worked for many years to strengthen nonprofit organizations and social movements in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the U.S., and to catalyze new generations of Black and Brown social justice and human rights leaders. I carry the voices and lessons of movement leaders and frontline activists, thankful for their stories and wisdom about what it means to shift and to embody power; Anuradha, Ginny, Wilson, Manohar, Alfred, Kathyji, Chidi, Hina, Fanny Ann, and so many others. In the here and now, I am a leadership and equity coach and facilitator. I bring these experiences along with professional coaching certification, a graduate degree in policy analysis, and experience in organizational development and decolonizing human rights philanthropy.
