Duties included leading the operational fire weather teams through changes to service delivery affecting the organisational structure, leading service improvement projects for heatwave and smoke forecasting services, quality management of services within the portfolio, providing subject matter expertise into major transformation projects and providing incident management support.Achievements:Co-designed and delivered a new, nationally-consistent Heatwave Warning service for Australia in October 2022 to increase the awareness of heatwave hazards and impacts within the Australian community.Co-designed and delivered a new Heatwave Decision Support product to partner agencies for summer 2021/22 to support their operational response during heatwave events.Led the communications with partners and customers about new heatwave products including delivering briefings, training and developing communications collateral. Recognised with an Excellence Award in 2021 for my contribution to the Career Conversations program.Recognised with an Australia Day Achievement Award in 2021 for my role in bushfire preparedness and recovery activities during the Black Summer fires of 2019/20.Continued to represent the Bureau on the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) Predictive Services Group as a member of the Training Working Group

Duties included implementing programs for monitoring the quality of fire weather and air quality services, leading product and service improvement projects, developing collaborative partnerships with fire and land management agencies and associated national bodies, representing the Bureau at conferences and on national working groups and providing incident management support.Achievements:Led a Business Process Management (BPM) frontrunner project with the operational fire weather team, including establishing a weekly check-in to allow early identification and rectification of issues affecting the delivery of fire weather services.Led the severe weather team through the transition to working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, including establishing new ways of working to stay connected and compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.Facilitated a Panel Discussion on Smoke from the 2019/20 Bushfire Season and presented on Improving Smoke Management through Collaboration at the 3rd International Smoke Symposium, Virtual Conference, 2020. Presented on Developing improved Incident Weather Forecasts using a Customer Centred Design process and coordinated a Bureau stand in the Exhibition Hall at the 6th International Fire Behaviour and Fuels Conference, 2019.Led a review of the spot fire forecasting service with the Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authorities Council (AFAC) predictive services group, including co-designing and implementing into operations an improved service.As technical editor, I collaborated with bushfire researchers and fire agency practitioners to deliver a national fire weather learning resource.

Duties included developing the competency framework through consultation with operational teams, developing and delivering training to operational meteorologists, developing the competency assessment approach, undertaking full-day competency assessments with over 100 meteorologists in each state and territory and maintaining operational fire weather forecasting skills.Achievements:Recognised with an Excellence Award in 2015 as part of the Graphical Forecast Editor Training team for an outstanding contribution in identifying and implementing innovative solutions that improve Bureau of Meteorology outputs.Led the training team through the change from classroom to online training delivery as a "Blended Learning Leader".Developed five online courses, including the first completely online course available in the Bureau's learning management system – Introduction to Fire Weather.Developed an online course in collaboration with the COMET program following a 3-week secondment to their training facility in Boulder, Colorado, USA. This was the first collaborative project between the two organisations to be delivered on time and on budget.
