Monica E. Shea, LO, FCLSA, is a licensed optician in the State of Connecticut. She concentrates in fitting specialty contact lenses for the treatment of complex corneal disease. Monica excels at incorporating advanced contact lens designs to help her patients who have irregular corneas, corneal trauma, high refractive errors, presbyopia and degenerative conditions, such as keratoconus and post penetrating keratoplasty. She commands extensive experience in the fitting of hybrid and scleral contact lenses. She is also sought-after by specialty contact lens manufactures to review and provide feedback on new lens designs. Monica’s passion is to help her patients see the best they possibly can and she does this by learning, embracing and best utilizing new technology. Her dedication has lead to life-changing positive outcomes for her patients.Monica completed a contact lens internship at Yale University School of Medicine, Yale Eye Center, New Haven, Connecticut. She has distinguished herself by completing the rigorous requirements necessary to become a Fellow of the Contact Lens Society of America (FCLSA). She also holds the following certifications: Advanced Certified Contact Lens Technician-National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE-AC) and American Board of Opticianry (ABOC). She earned her Associate of Science in Ophthalmic Design and Dispensing from Middlesex Community College. She received her Bachelors of Science degree with a concentration in business management from Charter Oak State College in December 2011.
