For the past few years I've been studying at Central Washington University, focusing on food science; and before that at Yakima Valley Community College emphasizing on interpersonal communications. I have often found that I can apply the communication tools and methods I’ve learned in much of my subsequent work and educational endeavors. For example, I helped with the Washington State Dietetic Association Tours of Ranches throughout Ellensburg Washington, which was held by the Washington State Beef Association. With these tours I explained about each ranch on how each ranch operations work from the nutrition of the cattle to the cow calf operation. I also fund raised and directed a school luncheon while attending Central that required a lot of professional management skills and fast-paced communication. Seneca is my current home, but I was raised in Yakima, Washington among the vast agriculture. My passion for the beef industry began when I met my husband, who has handled cattle his entire life. Since then, I have acquired seven years of cattle handling experience. The places I’ve worked and the people I’ve have met have provided me with the insight into the entire beef industry from start to finish. From my husband, I’ve seen cattle born and raised. From helping with the Tours of Ranches, I’ve seen how meat is chosen and priced. Working for Silvies Valley Ranch as Food and Beverage Specialist has given me the chance to see the final product of organic beef: from the marketing of organic beef to seeing how it is severed to guests at the retreat. Like my knowledge of the beef industry, I can bring the ability to make teamwork communication flow from beginning to end.
