Exploring new opportunities and independent contract work in the field of domestic violence. Formerly Vice President of Community Intervention at SafeHaven. Served at the nonprofit for almost six years, started as a graduate intern. My work is within sytems on our county’s intervention and responses to IPV. Oversaw the Tarrant County Domestic Violence High-Risk Team (DVHRT), Systems-Level Meeting. The primary goal of the DVHRT is to use a coordinated community response (CCR) model in ending the epidemic of domestic violence. Served on the Adult IPV Fatality Review and Child Fatality Review. Oversaw the Reformative Services Department that housed the Partner Abuse Intervention & Prevention Program (PAIP). Commonly known as a "BIPP" this work seeks to address the source of the violence - the abuser. My experience working with perpratators of IPV helps guide conversations on how to stop the abuse, avoid unintentional collusion, and support survivors and their children. I am also interested in expanding research on BIPP efficacy, predominant aggressor assessments in domestic violence, mental health, and the comorbidity of mental health and opioid use. My experience as a former journalist who reported on crime, politics, and education also positions me to do advocacy for under-served populations who lack access to quality treatment and care.
